Kaiden has a UTI! And the GI Dr. said he could have had it these past 4 months! UTI's can cause diarrhea, and he mentioned that at the appt, but I didn't think that was the cause. But it is, well one of the causes. He also had a lot of lactose in his stools, which is indicative of a lactose allergy. He said that the lactose allergy could be caused from the UTI, basically the UTI is making it hard for his body to digest lactose. Something like that. But he said it could also be a separate problem. He is on antibiotics for the UTI. I have a phone consult with him tomorrow, he only goes to chico once a month, he works in Palo Alto at the Stanford University School of Medicine, and Lucile Salter Packard Childrens Hospital. He is "Professor of Pediatrics Division Cheif" so tomorrow we will talk about possibly switching to a stronger antibiotic, and having an u/s done of his kidneys as they could be damaged from the UTI. I'm staying positive that they are fine! He also said something about doing a test to make sure his urine isn't refluxing which will cause recurrent UTI's. So if the infection clears but he still reacts to lactose then we can switch him to a special formula, or give him lactaid before each breastfeeding, which is probably what I will do since I'm such a die hard, LOL. It feels so good to have answers finally!! Maybe now that we will get him feeling better I will start feeling better and not so overwhelmed.
I feel so sorry for my lil man, I cant believe he's had a UTI for so long!!
well I think that's it, yay for getting answers!!
I'm a stay at home mom to 2 wonderful boys! My son Ethan is 3yrs old, and my son Kaiden is 6 months, born August 19th, 2005. As any other stay at home mom knows, its a tough job!! And taking time to relax and write a blog entry and reflect on the day feels good!!

about fricken time that we have answers now. so did he say what they could do if his urine is refluxing and what causes that if it turns out that is part of the problem? you should ask that when you talk to him tomorrow.
I'm so glad you found out what is causing his diarrhea. So is he doing better now that he is on antibiotics?
I'm so glad to hear you have answers. How is he doing now? He is such a cutie!
