5 Year Anniversary & Easter

This weekend was very busy!!
Saturday was our 5 year wedding anniversary! I can't believe we have been married 5 yrs already! Time sure can fly, but can really drag too, lol. I was having a lot of memories of the beginning of our marriage, it was so fun and exciting and new. He was gone a lot, but it made the time when he was home that much more special. He missed our first 2 wedding anniversaries, but has been home for the past 3 :) My friend Jennifer went to the coast for her birthday last week and that was where we got married, so she picked up some sand, rocks, shells, and driftwood for me. (Thank you so much Jennifer). So we sprayed a frame with spray adhesive and put the sand on it, then we applied the rocks and shells and drift wood. It looks awesome! Here is a pic:

Neils made me an adorable frame, I love how the Pics fit in it, here is a pic:

We spent a lot of our anniversary doing Easter stuff. We actually got married ON Easter 5 yrs ago, lol. We had a lot of fun though, we both love doing things with the kids, so we had a blast preparing eggs, and making treats for Easter. Our friends Jennifer and Rich (Thank you guys so much) watched Ethan and Kaiden in the evening so we could eat dinner in peace and then fill the plastic eggs with goodies and get their Easter baskets ready. I know our Anniversary doesn't sound very romantic, lol, but it was. He made a yummy dinner, it was delicious, as always. He can be a great cook! I married such a wonderful man! I don't think you could find better, LOL.

So here are some pictures of us coloring the eggs. Ethan had it down great this year. Kaiden just wanted to eat the eggs and skip the coloring, LOL.
here they are both grabbing me, Kaiden wanted me, and Ethan was playing with Kaiden, lol. How do us moms ever get anything done?

and here is tye-dye eggs we did:
you put the eggs in a strainer, then drip some vinegar on them, then drop some dye in, swish it around, let it dry 30 sec, then do another coat of dye, let it dry, then another, only 3 colors. And swish it around after each time.

and here are some pics of our Easter crafts that we did for Easter. I had a lot of fun. I've always wanted to do neat things like this, and I got most of the ideas from my family fun magazine.
This one is called Yarn Eggs, you hang them up outside.
first you start with a blown up balloon, about 6"
Then you mix half glue and half water in a shallow dish, and dip 20 3' long yarn strings in it, like this:

Then you wrap the strings around the balloon and tuck in the ends like this:

then you hang it out to dry:

when its all dry. You pop a small hole in the balloon so it slowly deflates, as it deflates you pull the yarn away from the balloon, and this is what you have:

It didn't turn out quite like the magazine, but that's ok, lol. We had fun.

Jello Eggs. This was actually a pain in the butt. I practiced several times, and they would fall apart. I was buying generic jello because I'm cheap, lol, so I looked at the name brand and they had directions for jigglers, so I followed that recipe, and looked online for egg mold directions, and learned I'm suppose to spray the molds with cooking oil spray. So did that, filled the egg molds. Refrigerated for 3 hrs, then ran under hot water for a few seconds, opened, and it worked! But they didn't taste great, next year I'm going to buy the name brand for all of them. But they look neat!!

I got this idea from the magazine too, carrots!

We had my sister and her family over, and dad and sue, and Jennifer and Nicholas. It was a lot of fun. I unfortunately woke up at 4 feeling sick, and at 5 started upchucking and everything else. So I felt miserable the whole day, running back and forth to the toilet, no fun, but I still was able to enjoy company. I just sat in one spot and tried not to move often, LOL. Hubby really came through for me. I really wanted to do a fruit bouquet, but was to sick, I tried at one point, but lets just say it didn't work out, lol, so I just thought it wasn't going to get done, but hubby did it for me!! Here is a pic, we got this idea from the magazine as well. I think I'm going to do it for Kaidens birthday also, since its in the summer and all.

Hubby also had to get the house clean and do all the cooking. He was really worn out by the end of the day, and didn't have a very good time because he was so busy, but he's ok with that, he likes to do things for his family. I had his chicken yesterday and it was tasty, a little dry, but I don't expect perfection, especially with how much he had to get done.
He really liked having everyone here. We missed our nephew Owen though. Apparently my BIL feels they should have all their holidays with his family, and none with our (my SIL's) family, and she just goes along with it. Yes I feel pretty negative about the whole thing. He is our nephew and has cousins close to his age, but never gets to hang out with them, unless its a birthday. It would be nice to atleast have one holiday a year that we spend with them. All well.
Here are pics of the great Easter Egg Hunt:
